UBa: Final year students of CADS gain knowledge on blogging

Over 60 final year students of the department of Communication and Development Studies have today December 3rd 2021 gained knowledge on blogging. 
The one day workshop held at PBA 05 was facilitated by UBa Voice radio operator Ngongsong Jean Marie.  This saw strudent through a learning session on the steps involved blog creation and how to manage their blogs. These students were also encouraged to update their blog daily so as to gain mastery.

MEDIA PRACTITIONERS GAIN KNOWLEDGE ON CONFLICT PREVENTION AND STRATEGIES

            Over 26 media men and women have been trained by Women in Alternative Action (W.A.A) Cameroon, on the role of the media in peace building and conflict, ethical and responsible reporting, which will ensure peace and safety. The training that took place at the Catholic Women Immaculate Conception Home Finance junction, on May 6th 2021, aimed at equipping media personnel, with skills on humanitarian reporting which will go a long way to build peace in the region.  According to the facilitator of the day Madam Rosaline Obah, a journalist's pen has so much power and whatever is reported, will either go a long way to incite hate, violence or build a peaceful society. Therefore, the duties and responsibility of a journalist, is to  report fairly, report the  background of the conflict and its causes, present the human side of the story and also  report on peace efforts being made and not only dwell on the negative angle. UBa: STUDENTS GAIN KNOWLEGDE ON COMBATING HATE SPEECH

A two day work shop organized by DefyHateNow in collaboration with the Student and Youths Empowerment Forum(SYEF) was geared towards training students on "Combating Hate Speech Offline and Online for a Peaceful Society". It had as aim to school youths on how to change the society and promote peace, how young people can participate in peace building activities ,how to identify the causes of hate speech, how to combat it and mitigate conflict among socio-cultural divides.          Organizer, Bahiru Adamu Bahiru Adamu  a student of Higher Teachers Training College(HTTC) in the University and the organizer of the workshop says he is one of the young Cameroonians trained in Yaounde in February 2021 by DefyHate.
